| DDS, the leading systems and software provider for the advertising industry, and the Cable Advertising Bureau (CAB) have formed an EDI Task Force to serve their shared network buying organization clients more effectively. The goals of the Task Force are to facilitate a smooth flow of information between the cable networks and the network buying organizations, and to streamline problem-solving procedures for all trading partners.

A major objective of the Task Force is education. “Educating DDS Netpak clients, the cable networks, and DDS staff will go a long way in improving the EDI process. Each partner knows its own side of the business inside and out, but is not necessarily aware of what its trading partners are doing. We have to be better informed of the cable networks’ technical issues to enable us to better guide our clients,” says Pat George, DDS’ chairperson on the EDI Task Force.
DDS and the CAB are in the process of identifying problem areas in the transmission and loading of network cable schedules. They are establishing an organized workflow for reporting and resolving problems. Solutions could involve training, system enhancements, or changing workflow processes.
“We are already seeing significant progress as a result of the partnership between DDS and the cable networks, as both parties share the same goal of improving electronic commerce for our customers,” says SallyAnn Mancuso, director of sales operations at A&E Television Networks (AETN) and a member of the EDI Task Force.
The CAB members in the EDI Task Force include representatives from cable networks AETN, ESPN, Discovery Networks, MTV Networks, and Turner Networks. The DDS representatives include staff from DDS account teams, customer solutions center (CSC), eBusiness administration, and operations. | |
