| Nielsen Media Research has issued the national calendar for the 2006-2007 production year. This new calendar changes the reporting of this broadcast year from the traditional rules used to define the standard broadcast calendar. This occurred once before, in 2001, and DDS was able to react to this change and handle the alteration to the calendar.
DDS’ agency clients are currently sorting out implications for issues such as research, buying, and reporting.
DDS’ Netpak and Spotpak applications can use either the standard broadcast calendar or the Nielsen calendar for research, buying, and reporting. Please refer to the 2007 Nielsen Calendar Guide for Netpak for details on how to set up Netpak applications to work with the 2007 Nielsen calendar. For Spotpak please use your regular calendar reporting options.
No matter which calendar is used for buying, all vendor invoices must continue to be based on standard broadcast months, to enable agencies to handle invoice reconciliation and coordinate payments. To quote the AAAA from May 2000 regarding the 2001 calendar: “…if they do not continue to bill on the standard media month, every accounting department in our industry will be flooded with discrepancies that are not really discrepant.” | |
